aod was founded in 1993 and is unique in Britain as the only company to specialise in touring new adaptations of Ancient Greek Drama.
We are committed to “making magic from myth... creating beautiful work that transforms, resonates and inspires a wide range of audiences”.
Through a fusion of poetry, music and physical theatre the company stages vivid, contemporary productions of classical Greek plays – as fresh, vibrant and controversial as when they were first written.

The assembly
Bacchic is a provocative, challenging and thought provoking update of Euripides’ masterpiece, The Bacchae. Performed by aod’s Artistic Director Tamsin Shasha, and
co-written by the director Jonathan Young, the play explores the conflict between a modern day icon and a staunch sceptic.
Featuring spectacular aerial theatre (advisor Matilda Leyser) specially composed music (Simon McCorry) and inspired lighting (Katharine Williams) the piece fuses text, movement and music to create a visually stunning and provocative piece of theatre.
