The company
Liz Aggiss is a hybrid artist, making live performances, dance films and screen dance installations. Her work is unclassifiable and blurs the boundaries between high art and popular culture. She has toured nationally and internationally since 1986. Her award winning screen dance and installations (made with Billy Cowie) include; Motion Control, Beethoven in Love, Anarchic Variations, Break, Men in the Wall and Doppel-ganger. Their book Anarchic Dance was published in 2006 by Routledge. Liz has received the Bonnie Bird Choreography Award, an Arts Council Dance Fellowship, and is Professor of Visual Performance at The University of Brighton.

The assembly
Armed with a beat-box and an attitude, live-art provocateur Liz Aggiss took on Caravan. Over the three days of the assembly, she selected from a repertoire of short, sharp dance pieces to amuse, baffle and challenge audiences on their way into performances. Reconstructing archive choreography, mashing up the past, the present, fact and fiction, Guerrilla Dances builds into a coherent sequence of astonishing monochrome vignettes. Liz Aggiss has many bees in her dancing bonnet and mercifully none of them take very long. She tagged Caravan like a Banksy of the dance-world. Watch out everyone. |
