The company
Spymonkey is a quartet of performers comprising Toby Park and Petra Massey (both UK), Stephan Kreiss (Germany) and Aitor Basauri (Spain). With its deliriously funny comedy theatre rooted ‘somewhere between Monty Python, the Marx Brothers and Samuel Beckett’ (The Houston Chronicle), it has proved to be a truly international phenomenon, enjoyed by a wide range of audiences over ten years of creating and touring. Spymonkey has an administrative base in Brighton and works with a team of creative associates. Touring and booking is managed by Glynis Henderson Productions Ltd.
Spymonkey will be taking part in the pitch sessions.

The assembly
Spymonkey’s repertoire includes Stiff (an undertaker’s comedy), Cooped (a gothic thriller romance) and Bless (a saintly variety show). From 2003-2005 the company worked with Cirque du Soleil in Las Vegas, creating the comedy for the burlesque Zumanity. All these shows were made in collaboration with director Cal McCrystal.
Spymonkey is currently developing ideas for new work that will stretch and exploit the unique physical, musical and comedy skills of the performers, including a version of Moby Dick with director Jos Houben in 2009. Collaborations and partnerships are sought to support this next phase of theatrical adventures. |
