The company
Strangeface is the dedicated mask company based in the south of the UK. The Guardian described the masks as "shooting straight for the heart". Their distinctive style blends new writing with mask and puppet play and visual inspiration diversely drawn from Japanese masks, Tim Burton, Jan Svankmajer and
Jirí Barta. They provide commissions, workshops, exhibitions and mask sets regionally, nationally and internationally.

The assembly
Strangeface presented The Last Resort - a remote town on the edge of ruin visited by a soldier-thief with a fortune on his back and a devil at his side. This darkly comic Faustian folk-tale is told with half-masks, puppets and an original score, played live. This satire about greed, ambition and redemption features performers who have previously worked with Trestle Theatre Company, Faulty Optic and Green Ginger.
The Last Resort is available to tour, lasting 105 minutes plus interval. Accompanying workshops, facilitation and consultation available. |
